Mikumi National park was established in 1964 and is the fourth largest park in Tanzania - 1,250 sq miles. Located 285 kms from Dar es salaam. The park is in the northern border of Africa's biggest game reserve - the Selous. It has a wide range of wildlife including lions,crocodiles, buffaloes, civet, eland, giraffes, impala, kudu, reedbuck, yellow baboons, hippos, zebra and wild dogs. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in the park some of which are Eurasian migrants that are present from October to April.
